Mike Rudd & Bill Putt's Classifieds (close this window to return to the home page)

For a musician, every day's a holiday. Sounds idyllic doesn't it? But, believe it or not, there are days when one feels that one could do more - not only do more, but enjoy doing more. Not to mention that lolling about in one's own excrement can get, well, boring. The solution could be to put all that latent talent to good use. Why not write a jingle or two to keep the wolves from the door? Why not tell people that you teach harmonica? Why not sell some of those pieces of equipment you keep tripping over? The only slightly intriguing answers to these rhetorical questions lie below.
To get in touch about any of the following items, please e-mail Mike and Bill or write to Mike & Bill c/o PO Box 1181 Camberwell Victoria 3124 Australia

Mike and Bill's tutorials
So, you've always wanted to learn to play the harmonica - or perhaps guitar?
Have I told you that I teach blues harp (that's harmonica to you)? If you've always been fascinated by the harmonica and you'd like to learn - even from scratch - you can attend your own individually tailored Mike Rudd Blues Harp course right here in the plush surrounds of the Accidental Music Studio in Camberwell. Or you might have always hankered to play guitar (like young Olly in pic 2) - Mike can take you from a rank learner to quite a bit better than that in whatever time it takes you to learn things. Why not get in touch to check Mike's old-fashioned

rates and choose times that might suit you.
As already mentioned, Bill has a thriving guitar teaching business going, covering guitars of all persuasions, including: bass guitar, classical and down-tuned nylon-string guitars, and lap-steel (pic). He'll even come to your place and teach you in the comfort of your own home! Give him a call on 0412 155 136 and arrange your lessons, (and your kids as well, for that matter), today.
If you're looking for drumming tips, you should get in touch with Robbo.

Mike and Bill's School Music Workshops
Yes, these gifted old duffers will come to your school or sheltered workshop and set up their equipment in front of the students, explaining things as they go and asking for directions to the toilets. Then they'll play a selection of their own songs and instrumentals and break them down to illustrate their points on song writing, as well as explaining the often-mysterious differences between playing live on stage and recording in a studio.
Mike and Bill are happy to interact with the students (in the nicest possible way, of course) and answer questions about all aspects of music playing and presentation, as well as give what they fondly imagine to be relevant thoughts on lifestyle and health issues – i.e. hearing loss, drugs etc. If nothing else it will be a salutary warning to the children about what to expect should they embark on a career playing music.

Let Mike create your musical jingles..
I've obviously got far too much spare time, so I'm offering myself as a over-qualified jingle writer and producer, using the Accidental Music Studio here in leafy Camberwell as my base. sample Voice-overs are a distinct possibility too, not to mention demos for aspiring singers or (smallish) combos - basically bloody anything's up for grabs. I shouldn't forget my partner Bill here, either. Read the guff on Bill if you're interested in learning guitar or bass guitar

The real Classifieds 1) Oberheim DMX drum machine
It's with tears in my eyes that I offer this bit of history up for sale. There are so many stories I could tell you about this prototype drum machine, this piece of wood, (yep, wood!), steel and circuit boards that we dubbed Weird Harold. Weird Harold (pic) is a creature of the '80s and played with Bill and me (when he felt like it) in a pretty innovative band called WHY. I even wrote a song about him (Digital Delay) which we recorded in '84 for Klaus Shulze's IC Records in a little town called Winsen Aller in what was West Germany. The resultant album (Present Tense) was never released in Australia, but Weird Harold was prominent in every song - it was the '80s after all.. As far as I know, this rare example of one the earliest model Oberheim DMX's is still in working order, (I'll check over the next few days just to be sure), and has the original owner's manual (pic). We modified Harold so he had four times the standard memory and could be synched with a stage video - you can see the non-standard switches on the top. What it doesn't have is the front two lugs - I think I gave them to some other DMX owner when we took the WHY show off the road - but that's a minor detail. What would you offer for this priceless piece of furniture? I guess I'll find out.. check out a bigger view

The real Classifieds 2) Data transfer switch

What the hell is a Data Transfer Switch? With recent changes to my network, I now find that the Data switch (pic) I used to switch from one PC to the other sharing the same monitor is redundant, so I'm offering it at a stupid $20.00 AUD for someone in Australia. Check out back view
